Our First Basic English Meetup

I am so glad that we are about to have our first Basic English Meetup in a fortnight's time! In this Meetup, we will focus on the basics of English grammar as well as some basic conversation. The lesson will be around 1.5 to 2 hours. Kindly check out the event flow from our Meetup Group homepage here.

The location of our first Basic English Meetup will be at 1 Goldhill Plaza, #03-23. I have chosen this location because it is located around the central area and within walking distance from the MRT, which is what most our members preferred. I have prepared a pictorial guide below to help you find your way from Novena MRT station to our classroom at 1 Goldhill Plaza:

First, take Exit B from Novena MRT station which will lead you towards the direction of United Square. You will pass by some tunnels and a couple of escalators to the road level. Once you exit to the road level, turn right and you will see a street view which looks like this:

Walk straight from here and you will see Nanta BBQ Restaurant at the corner on your right:

Turn right into that junction and you will see a view like this:

Walk straight and you should pass by a row of shops including this Korean Restaurant on your left:

By the way, this Korean Restaurant has one of the most authentic (original) Korean food that you can find in Singapore. I highly recommend that you try it out (maybe for lunch before our class) especially if you like Korean food!

Now, if you look towards your 2-o'clock-direction, you will see Goldhill Plaza (the tall cylindrical tower).

Turn right into the junction (watch out for cars here!) and you will see a view like this:

Do not go into the tower. You should turn left into the small alley behind the tower. If you see a view like the picture below, then you are on the right track. We are almost there!

Walk straight along the alley and look to your right. Walk straight until you see the staircase entrance of "03-23 to 03-25". That is the staircase entrance of our classroom!

You have arrived! I will be greeting you at the reception. Your journey from Novena MRT to our classroom should not take more than 10 minutes.

I hope this pictorial guide will be useful on the day. If you have trouble finding your way, please send a message to our Meetup group and I will respond immediately.

I wish you all the best in finding your way and see you guys in class.  =D

So You Want to Learn English?

Mastering everyday English is not difficult if you get your basics right. Living in Singapore offers you a great opportunity to learn and practise English in your everyday life.

In fact, a friend of mine from Korea actually came here to work in order to hone her English conversational skills. I was impressed by her courage to leave her home and come to a foreign country to pursue her ambitions. Although there are many academies that offer English courses for adults, we found that the fees were rather expensive. I thought I could lend a hand by giving her some tuition because I used to take English Courses for Academic Purpose during my University days.

We meet at a cafe once a week and I prepare the learning materials. Besides learning the essential basics of English grammar, we also go through common English conversations that she can use in her work.

From my teaching experience, I realized that my friend is not alone. Therefore, I have decided to start a Basic English Class for foreigners who are working or studying in Singapore. If you are one of them out there, check out the classes that are available from the poster below.

The exact time and place of the class can be discussed between you and me. I hope that we can meet at a suitable time and place to get the best out of your learning experience.

You can also find out more about the course structure in the Courses page.

Kindly write to me through the Contact Me page should you require further information =)

My goal is to help you learn and improve your English as much as I can. There is no better feeling in the world than to help others and see them succeed.
